Why detailing over a drive-through car wash?

I get this a lot. Many ask, "I can get a drive through car wash for five dollars at my local place. Why should I spend more money for this wash instead? The answer is simple. We do a better clean, better protection, and do not damage your vehicle

.

Drive through washes often do not fully clean their scrubbing tools. This can lead to dirt and small rock particles lingering on the brushes. This leads to a mediocre cleaning. Furthermore, these dirt particles can actually scratch your paint. If you look at a car that often visits drive-through washes, you will notice what is called "swirl marks". This is small scratches in the paint that lead to a lesser shine, increased risk for water damage, and an overall old look to your car.

Detailers, however, do everything in their power to prevent these issues from arising. Every detailer, before touching the vehicle, first performs what is called a "pre-rinse". This involves spraying the car with a layer of soap and pressure washing it down. Though, without scrubbing, this does not remove all the dirt from the car, it will remove a large portion, therefore lowering the risk of swirl marks. Next, detailers begin their "contact wash", where they actually scrub the vehicle. We use clean microfiber washing mitts to avoid contaminants and to pick up all the dirt. Furthermore, I use the "two-bucket-method" to maintain cleanliness throughout the contact wash and switch my mitts halfway through. All this works to prevent scratches and provide your car with the best cleaning possible.

Finally, we use specific chemicals for specific parts of your car. Tire rims for example, can be covered in brake dust, which needs special pH solutions to break down. Furthermore, clay bars and iron removing solutions may be necessary to remove all contaminants from your car's paint- all things that drive-throughs do not do.

So next time you need a quick washing, do not settle for mediocrity. Book a car cleaning with Shucked and Shined and get the job done right- providing yourself with the best cleaning and no damage to your vehicle.
